History and Mission

The Schumacher Historical Society (SHS) held it’s first board meeting in January 2022 and was granted incorporation under special provincial legislation with the Ontario Historical Society on November 3, 2022.

The Schumacher Historical Society mission is to:

  • research, gather, present, and promote the heritage of our multi-cultural and resilient community;
  • recognize the contributions made by individuals and organizations during the towns evolution; and
  • involve members of the community and businesses and First Nations in preserving the history of Schumacher and Tisdale Township.

Graham MacLachlan (second cousin of Jack Paris Bickell and co-author of the book, J. P. Bickell)
