Schumacher Heritage Research Project
The Schumacher Heritage Research Project seeks to identify and research ‘heritage properties’ in Schumacher and Tisdale Township that are significantly important – historically, socially, culturally, recreationally, ecologically, politically, economically.
The research findings will be used for these purposes:
- To ‘nominate historical buildings’ in Schumacher and Tisdale Township for inclusion in the City of Timmins Municipal Heritage Register as designated properties under bylaw 2020-8410.
- To establish an online and live ‘Schumacher Heritage Walking Tour’ experience that will contain points of interest from which historical stories and interpretive signage will be derived from.
- To ‘prepare heritage assessments’ of community assets (i.e. mines, schools, businesses, churches, organizations).
- To change the ‘story narrative and direction’ of Schumacher from decades of negative outcomes to reimagining a future that is more positive, brighter, and sustainable.
